Halloween Costumes That Are Already in Your Closet

Okay, that was fast. Halloween is here!  If you've waited until the last minute to put your Halloween costume together, it doesn't mean that you are too late or that your costume can't still be creative (and easy).

Many of us dread the idea of figuring out what to wear for Halloween (if we dress up at all), but we all know we’ll inevitably be dragged to a party and need some sort of costume. The last thing we want to do is spend a ton of money on something we’re only going to wear one time.

Here are 5 costume ideas that you can create from the wardrobe you already have!

1. Everyone's Favorite Aardvark

If you didn't watch Arthur growing up, I'm not sure we can be friends. Kidding... sort of. This show definitely brings back memories and this costume is very simple to replicate.

What you need:

  • Yellow sweater
  • White collared shirt
  • Medium or dark washed denim
  • Red or white sneakers
  • Glasses
  • Card stock paper (you'll cut the ears out of this)
  • Headband (to glue the ears onto)

Trust us, you'll score major cool points with this one!

2. YeeHaw-lloween

FLANNELS! Most people have at least one flannel in their closet. Combine your fave flannel with a pair of your favorite jeans and you are you’re good to go! Don't forget to add in your best casual boots and a wide brimmed hat, too.

It may seem basic, but for a last minute outfit, it works! And BONUS - you’ll get to look super cute and be super comfortable.

This could also be an opportunity to add a pair of overalls to your wardrobe. You can wear them to your party and then rock them later with a sweater and boots to your local corn maze! Giddy up!

3. Let The (Squid) Games Begin

Chances are, the super creepy tones of “Red Light, Green Light” have been playing in your head for the past few weeks. You can thank Netflix’s most watched series ever, Squid Game, for the catchy tune. Want a costume that’s easy and hits the nose on pop-culture relevancy? Try dressing up as a Squid Game player.

What you need:

  • Green tracksuit
  • White T-shirt
  • White Vans
  • A numbered patch - (you can use an iron on patch from Walmart or Hobby Lobby, or go even more simple with duct tape and a sharpie!)

Even if you waited until the last second to pull something together for Halloween, you'll feel #blessed for finding this comfy and trendy costume.

4. #Ghosted

If you need simple and quick, HERE IT IS. This is as simple as you can get! How to be a cool-girl Halloween Ghost:

Step by step:

Step one - Grab an old sheet (preferably solid white, obvs)

Step two - Cut holes for the eyes and arms

Step three: Choose your shoes - we say “the comfier the better”. We suggest a pair of Vans or Converse. Adding your favorite pair of sneakers to your ghost costume is a fun way to shake things up, and stay comfortable at the same time.

Boom you have yourself a costume. And obviously, ghosts are a staple for Halloween.

Grease is one of the best and most recognizable movies ever and it’s super simple to dress up as Sandy and force your bae or bestie into being Danny (or a Pink Lady!).

  • Black body suit or black tight fitted shirt you can tuck into your pants
  • Curled and teased blonde hair (or a wig!)
  • Black belt
  • Gold hoop earrings
  • Red heels
  • Red lipstick
  • Chewing gum (obviously)
It’s simple. It’s sassy. And, it consists of items that are most likely already in your closet.
