Breathable Fabrics to Beat the Summer Heat
Summer weather can be a blessing and a curse, am I right? Sunshine is all fun and games until that first 100 degree day hits, then what?! And let’s say that wearing nothing isn’t an option - at least in this case. To help combat the summer sweats, we’ve selected some breathable fabrics for the end of summer that you’ll want to have in your closet to keep you from getting too toasty.
1. Linen
It’s more than flowy outfits on the beach.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
Linen is a natural fabric lover’s dream. It’s created from the fibers of the flax plant and it’s 30 percent stronger than cotton. It also gets softer the more you wear and wash it, which makes linen an excellent long term investment.
2. Seersucker
Find your own swatch of southern charm.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
The puckering lifts much of the fabric up and away from your skin and allows air to flow through it. For the same reason, seersucker dries incredibly quickly, which is perfect if you battle with perspiration.
3. Chambray
Everything you love about denim with better ventilation.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
Chambray is often confused for denim, and it makes sense—they're super similar. Chambray is softer and weighs less. Chambray is great on its own, but it’s also an excellent layering piece. This fabric is likely what you see when someone is wearing a “denim shirt” or “denim dress.”
4. Cotton
It’s the fan favorite for a reason.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
Cotton is one of those universal fabrics you can find anywhere—everything from blouses to pants to jumpsuits and undergarments can be made of cotton. Another great feature? Cotton is a totally natural fiber, so it’s perfect if you have sensitive skin.
